Fit Food That Will Never Fail

Ever lost weight and yet somehow see the weight creep back on? Diets can be great for the short run, but ultimately they are doomed to fail. Whether it’s the Atkins or Slimming World, these diets are never sustainable and won’t be maintainable for the long run. It’s so easy to slip back into bad eating habits when your underlying routine at home and major triggers have not changed. So we’ve put together our top tips on how to maintain a healthy diet for the long haul.

Meal Prep Like a Boss

Meal prepping might sound long and laborious, but we promise it will save you heaps of time in the long run. Just dedicating a few hours on a sunday to cooking up a batch of veggies, washing and chopping your salad, grilling some chicken and cooking some salmon, will have all your meals set for the rest of the week. There’s nothing worse than coming home from work in the evening starving and having nothing to eat. Chances are you’ll go for whatever is to hand, and this isn’t usually the healthiest of options.

Get Snack Savvy

If you’re in a busy job, rushing around on your feet all day or even sat at your desk all week, you’re going to need some snacks to keep you satisfied. Now we don’t mean the classic staff room snacks of crisps and chocolate. We mean get prepared and always have healthy snacks on hand when hunger strikes. Things like some raw nuts, fresh fruit, chopped veggies or even a couple of boiled eggs will keep that hunger at bay and stop you from making poor food choices later on in the day.

Get Your Macros and Calories Right

It’s not only what you’re eating but also about how much you’re eating too. If you’re loading up on carbs all day long, chances are you might feel an energy crash just an hour after eating. Better to keep your sugar levels balanced and get in some good sources of protein and healthy fats to keep you stable. Adding things like avocado to your morning smoothie, having a big omelette for breakfast and lean meats for lunch will keep you fuller for longer and help build that muscle even quicker.

Stay Balanced

Being too restrictive with any sort of diet can often lead to binging and rebellion. Restriction focuses too much on what we can’t have not enough on the abundance of what we can have. Let’s switch our mindset around and focus on all the nourishment we need to get into our bodies every single day so that it can perform at its peak. We need to stay balanced and also remember that we are only human. Having a ‘cheat meal’ here and there can actually be beneficial for staying on track and keeping that mind healthy too.
