Yoga for Everyday Life

For those of you who have never even stepped foot on a yoga mat before, starting yoga for the first time might seem a little daunting. Yoga is commonly thought to be just for those young flexi girls, but really it’s for anyone and everyone. We’ve chosen our 3 top ways in which yoga can benefit you, even off the mat too.

Mindset

Always remember, it’s your mind that needs training… your body will follow. “Yoga is not about touching your toes, it’s about the lessons you learn on the way down” (Jigar Gor). You don’t have to be a yoga goddess doing handstands or bending like you don’t have a spine. It’s not about what you look like or even how flexible you are. It’s just as much about your mindset and mental attitude as it is about your physical body too.

Fitness

Yoga is designed to get you stretching deeper than just your standard cool down stretch. It will keep your body flexi and your muscles nimble, perfect for anyone who loves to train on the daily too. Getting your muscles supple not only will help with flexibility and mobility, but surprisingly has a huge impact on your fitness progress too. If you’re someone that loves strength training, yoga is the perfect complimentary activity to do alongside your workout to get you squatting deeper, leg pressing heavier and dead-lifting further.

Reset

Not only is yoga beneficial for whilst we’re on the mat, but it’s also about what we take off the mat too. Learning to stay calm during yoga can also help us in our daily lives too. It has that incredible ability to reset ourselves. Whether we feel a little anxious about work, have a never ending to-list that’s stressing us out or receive constant pressure from our work or peers, yoga is that one activity that you can return to day in and day out that will leave you feeling free and light again. It’s just you, the mat and the present moment… bliss. Yoga is there to help everyone, we’ve just got to be open enough to see it.
