The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in health and wellness, with a focus on nutrition and exercise. They should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be highly organized, and have a passion for helping others achieve their health and wellness goals. The successful coach to join our team will be extremely self-motivated and outgoing. Working with a varied clientele he/she must be positive at all times and bring a level of energy to our program that will encourage participants to drive themselves further than they thought they could. All this whilst paying close attention to the form of all participants during each workout to keep it safe and effective. Needless to say, the successful coach must possess great communication skills, with the ability to maintain and apply the required dedication to our members’ experience.

As well as their role in delivering the best program exercise classes, the Fitness & Nutrition Coach is responsible for providing personalized support and guidance to guests seeking to improve their health and lose weight through a combination of diet, exercise, and other wellness practices.They work with guests to set achievable goals, develop individualized plans, and provide ongoing support and encouragement throughout their weight-loss journey.

As coaches and trainers our job is to create an environment where our members are excited about our program program day and avoid the feeling of becoming lost on the program. Our coaches are expected to get to know each member and to understand the member’s program goals and objectives. Certifications are important, but to be completely honest, your positive personality combined with a desire to make a positive difference is just as important as any extra certification. To coach Strength and Conditioning classes at PhuketFit, you will need to have experience in leading and motivating in different level Strength & Conditioning classes. There is also an opportunity for increasing personal training services and building out other programs. Our clientele and demographic focus on both males and females of age range 20 – 60.

Fitness & Nutrition Coach Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support in PhuketFit’s group classes which include; starting class on time, instructing a dynamic warm up, demonstrate and instruct movements included in WOD, explain and demonstrate drills and scaling options for movements, coach and facilitate proper technique of movements.
  • Keep clients safe through proper workout technique and form.
  • Keep a clean and safe workout area at all times and lead by example for class participants
  • Run effective, safe, and fun group fitness classes ranging from 5-20 people.
  • Offer support to help clients achieve their fitness goals.
  • Initial Assessment: Meet with guests to understand their health history, weight loss goals, and current lifestyle habits. Based on this information, develop a personalized weight-loss plan.
  • Nutrition Education: Assist with the delivery of education and support to guests on healthy eating habits, portion control, and food choices. Recommend healthy meal options, assist in menu planning and answer any nutrition-related questions guests may have.
  • Exercise Guidance: Develop and supervise exercise programs tailored to each guest’s individual needs and abilities. Encourage guests to be physically active and provide guidance on safe and effective exercise practices.
  • Behavioral Change Support: Help guests identify and overcome barriers to weight loss by providing guidance on goal setting, motivation, and stress management.
  • Monitoring Progress: Regularly assess each guest’s weight, body composition, and overall health status. Review progress with guests and make adjustments to their weight-loss plans as needed.
  • Record Keeping: Keep detailed records of each guest’s progress and encourage guests to do this also, including weight loss, exercise, and nutrition data. Use this information to measure success and make recommendations for further improvement.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the wellness retreat team, including registered dietitians or consultants, exercise specialists, and other health professionals, to provide comprehensive support to guests.
  • Ongoing Support: Provide ongoing support and encouragement to guests throughout their weight-loss journey. Celebrate their successes and help them stay motivated through any setbacks.
  • Develop and implement specialized training programs for clients (if required).
  • Be present at all team meetings – if/when required.
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with class attendance/participation – if/when required
  • Be willing to adapt and perform any tasks or make any role changes required by the company in line with the goals and objectives of the program. 

Fitness & Nutrition Coach Qualifications/Skills

  • Minimum 1-year experience coaching 
  • Qualification in a recognised strength and conditioning certification program 
  • Qualification in recognised Sports Nutrition certification program i.e precision nutrition etc
  • Leadership abilities
  • Keep up to date with evidence based studies across a broad range of exercise topics
  • Genuine empathy for clients
  • Passion for health and fitness

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Managing the flow and logistics of a class
  • Provide group and one-on-one instruction, including possessing a large tool belt of scales and progressions
  • Demonstrating exercises and movements clearly and concisely while using terminology suited to non native English speakers
  • Making sure the members are safe whilst performing the movements.
  • Must possess excellent coaching, interpersonal and communication skills. Must have in depth knowledge and be well versed in understanding, implementing and coaching modalities. Have the ability to handle large classes and react positively when faced with challenges or obstacles.
  • Adapt coaching style and techniques to accommodate athletes of all levels.
  • Ensure every member receives high quality personal attention and coaching.
  • Ensure that all classes you coach start on time and finish on time & keep the facility clean and organized.
  • Must be knowledgeable and energetic to create a positive environment for our members in order to educate, motivate, and inspire
  • Communicate class feedback and findings to the management team for further business improvement.
  • Understand the concepts of General Fitness, Strength and Conditioning and Nutrition.
  • Customer facing demeanor at all times
  • Flexible to changing class (work) times
  • Great positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Possess good organizational skills.

The successful Candidate will possess:

A sense of teamwork, pride in our retreat program and its equipment, and accountability to upholding our standards are necessary when it comes to joining. We’re looking for someone that appreciates the community, wants to be ingrained in it, and help to develop it – by both participating in community events when possible, participating in blog posts and adding value for our customers in creative ways. 

We want someone that is comfortable answering questions of potential members that walk in off the street and being an excellent representative of the brand, the successful coach will be versatile and flexible to assist with ensuring all classes are covered when needed (without being overloaded with work) to ensure the goals of both the company and our clients are met.
